Dr. Alexander Granados named 10th President of Southeastern Bible College
The Board of Trustees at Southeastern Bible College has called Dr. Alexander Granados as its next President effective September 1, 2014. Dr. Granados is a native of Bogota, Colombia.
He is married to Dorian Gee Granados and they have two daughters, Emma (age10) and Sophia (age 8).
Dr. Granados comes to Southeastern after having served The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Granados also served The Master’s College as Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and as Director of Church and Urban Ministries.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1992 from The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the special area of International Relations and Comparative Politics.
He received his Master of Theology (TH.M.) in Systematic Theology in 1997 at The Master’s College Seminary in Sun Valley, CA.
He received his Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D) from Biola University in La Miradia, CA. in International Education in 2008.
Dr Granados was named Professor of The Year by The Master’s College in 2012.
He served on several key committees at The Master’s College which included:
- Retention and Graduation Rates Research Committee (2010-2013)
- Philosophy Of Education Committee (2009-2013)
- General Education Committee (2009-2013)
- Foreign Partnerships Committee (2009-21013)
- Diversity Committee (2007-2013)
- Strategic planning Committee (2009-2013)
Dr. Granados has served on the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Board where he conducted visits to colleges and universities for initial or continuing accreditation.
He served on the White Fields Board of Trustees, which is an organization that specializes in providing collaborative start-up support to pastors planting local churches among their own people in other parts of the world.
He served as a member of the 76-member Santa Clarita Valley Healthcare Roundtable, which served the community as a forum for discussion and resolution of regional healthcare issues.
Dr. Granados’ publications include a work entitled, The Historical Adam in Education: Why Keeping Him Real in Curriculum Matters, edited by Abner Chou. Grand Rapids; Kregel Publications, 2015; and Granados, A. (2013). Review of Strangers: Next Door; Immigration, Migration, and Mission by J. D. Payne: Themelios: Volume 38. No. 2, July 2013, 347-349.
Dr. Granados has served in several Pastoral roles which include:
- Executive Pastor, The Bridge Bible Fellowship in Reseda, CA. (2009-2011)
- Associate Pastor of the Los Angeles Community Bible Church in Los Angeles, CA. (2000-2009)
- Associate Pastor—Spanish Ministry at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. (1994-1999)
- Youth Leader at First Fundamental Bible Church in Monterey Park, CA.
He has traveled the world on mission projects that include trips to the Philippines, Colombia, Honduras, and Mexico.
Board of Trustee Chairman, Dr. Mike McLemore, stated: “Dr. Granados embodies personally the mission statement of Southeastern Bible College which is to ‘Produce graduates that are biblically grounded; spiritually mature; and culturally relevant.’ Dr. Granados brings all of this to the future of Southeastern, and we look forward to a great journey together as he assumes the role as our next President.”
Dr. Granados follows the thirteen year tenure of Dr. Don Hawkins, the previous President of SEBC, who is now residing in Dallas, Texas after his announcement earlier this year to retire effective August 1, 2014. Dr. Vicki Wolfe, Provost of Southeastern Bible College was named Interim President by the Board of Trustees during the time of transition.
Dr. Mike McLemore stated: “Dr. Vicki Wolfe, the faculty, and the staff of Southeastern Bible College are to be commended for their tireless efforts in making sure the College’s day-by-day operations ran smoothly during this time of transition.
“The Presidential Search Committee under the able leadership of Mr. Steve Gannett is also to be commended for all of the hours they spent in gathering data, resumes, and time spent in interviews with other candidates during the search process. The College is blessed with outstanding leadership at all levels and is ready to move forward to accept the challenges of an ever-changing culture.”
