Bio – Dean Self

Dean Self

B.A., University of Montevallo(1978), M.T.S., University FLET(2005), Min.D.,(2007)
Dean Self has been a missionary nearly 25 years and is currently assigned to the state of Alabama working with Hispanics.  This will be his second year of teaching Hispanic Culture and Ministry at Southeastern Bible College.  He is fluent in Spanish and has developed discipleship material in the Spanish language.

He enjoys playing golf, racquetball(but not as well as Dr. Green can!), and mostly relating to the many Spanish pastors and leaders in the Birmingham area.
Dean’s wife, Linda, is also a missionary and teaches several Spanish classes(local and Homeschoolers) as well as a sought after Ladies speaker, especially in the Spanish churches.  Dean and Linda have 3 adult children (Josh, Jordan and Jenise) and two inlaws (Fran-Jenise’s husband and Hannah-Jordan’s wife who is expecting our first grandbaby!!!!!), an outside cat named Rocky (because he fights so much).  Dean and Linda are empty-nesters and live in Clay.
Dean thinks a great day would be playing a round of golf, eating breakfast at noon at Cracker Barrel and kicking back with friends either watching Alabama play (football or baseball) or watching soccer with his Hispanic buds.  Dean likes to read a lot but only “real” stuff(not into fiction).  He is also interested in the “emerging church movement” knowing that there are bad and good in the movement.  Some of his favorite writers are McManus,Warren,Yaconelli,Rusaw, Swanson and Marcos Witt as well as many Spanish writers.
