Defending the Faith in the 21st Century
An Apologetics Conference co-sponsored by the Apologetics Resource Center (ARC) and Southeastern Bible College.
January 30 – 31, 2009
The conference begins Friday evening at 7:00 pm and concludes at Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
Apologetics is the art of giving a relevant and intelligent defense of the Christian faith. It involves presenting the evidence for the truth of Christianity and answering the tough questions that people ask us about our faith. As the Apostle Peter instructs, “Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence (1 Peter 3:15, NASB).
This conference is for any Christian who desires to understand the world of the 21st century through the lens of the Bible and Christian truth. It is designed to speak to issues that are relevant for the professional pastor trying to lead a congregation, the high school or college student seeking to make an impact on the lives of friends on a school campus, and you and me.
There will be three plenary sessions: “21st Century Apologetic Challenges,” “Can we Know that Christianity is True” featuring Dr. Steve Cowan of Southeastern Bible College and ARC, and a General Q & A with the ARC staff. There are ten small group sessions to choose from including pertinent topics such as: “Why is the Church Losing its Youth”, “Facing the Challenge of Islam”, “Emerging Error? A Response to the Emerging Church," and "The God Who is There: Responding to the New Atheism."
