Jessie’s Place serve women and children experiencing hopelessness and often lacking the resources needed to meet the needs of their families. The Christian Life Program is a spiritual formation program for both women and children. The goal of the program is to train women and children to gain strength in personal spiritual disciplines as well as other areas of life management. This life training program accomplishes this through discipleship by ministry professionals learning the importance of the prayer and restoration, life management, on the job training and teaching and training related to time, money and relationships in preparation for the discovery of vocational passions. Participants receive training in preparing to obtain employment. Participants are mentored and receive training in developing effective insight and responses to non-Biblical world views, growing through deliberate accountable community with other believers, and experiencing becoming a true servant through hard work and accountability.

Our purpose is to minister by meeting needs where first we introduce women and children to Jesus, disciple and train women and children to grow deeper in faith by growing in conformity to Christ and becoming equipped with the essential tools to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples in their own homes and ultimately of all nations.

 Summer Camp Director – Job Description

RBC Summer Camp will consist of 12-weeks of full day camp activities for children entering the 1st – 6th grades.  The seasonal position identified below will consist of up to 13 weeks of employment.  Director position will be 8 hours a day, 5 days a week Monday thru Friday.  Camp hours are from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.  An assistant will be available for extended hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Plans, coordinates, conducts and supervises the activities and day-to-day operations of the summer camp program for RBC.

  • Will assist in recruiting, interviewing and hiring camp counselors
  • Effectively supervise, coach and mentor the camp counselors in the performance of specific duties (including shifts, placement, training, discipline, etc.)
  • Responsible for daily management of all summer camp activities (schedule, games, events)
  • Develops effective written program plans, including games, crafts, field trips, and special events for summer camp. 
  • Evaluate camp counselors and jointly develop improvement plans when necessary.
  • Recruit volunteers and contract service employees (e.g. special guests such as musicians, clowns, etc.) to participate in camp.
  • Enforces all rules pertaining to the health and safety of visitors, parents and campers.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed financial records; controls revenue and expenditures.
  • Work with and maintain open communication with the Pastor and Associate Pastor as necessary.
  • Organize and lead weekly field trips
  • Maintain communication with campers’ parents
    • Notify about special events, field trips, etc.
    • Notify about disciplinary issues
    • Notify about injuries
  • Oversee morning devotion and worship services
  • Make any necessary changes required for the week
    • Sending home staff
    • Finding subs
    • Changes in schedule due to unforeseen events
  • Provide the “final buck” for disciplinary issues
    • Train staff in disciplining children
    • After staff have followed all the way through protocol, the director determines what further measures should be taken

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Applicants must be 20 years of age or older and have experience working with children, preferably in a camp setting.

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a daily walk with Him.
  • Mature and responsible with excellent character, integrity and adaptability
  • Ability to communicate effectively both, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish an effective working relationship with campers, parents, employees and RBC staff.
  • Ability to lead and individually work to accomplish camp goals.
  • Experience in coordinating, planning, organizing and implementing activities for children is required.
  • CPR and First aid certified or willing to be trained.
  • Emphasis will be placed on ability to develop and implement a variety of creative activities on a consistent basis.
  • A working knowledge of personal computers with word processing knowledge is required.
  • Love kids and have a heart for ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible to the Camp Director.
  • Group supervision of campers with attention to all of the following areas: program, health, discipline, cleanliness, safety and routine duties.
  • Pray for, encourage and work with campers to create a positive and up-lifting atmosphere for every camper and staff member.
  • Implement a weekly schedule for your camp group.
  • Organize, lead and teach a variety of small and large group activities, to including Bible studies
  • Promote camper participation in daily activities.
  • Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech and relationships with other staff that serve as a role model to campers.
  • Work with Camp Director and other camp staff to iron out any issues or difficulties with facilities, programs and campers.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and program areas.  This includes, but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues. Make sure that appropriate behavior issues are reported to Camp Director.
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities. Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized and free of litter.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with children in day camp or program setting.

Counselor Rules and Regulations:

In order to have a safe, healthy and positive camp that will result in a good experience for everyone, counselors will NOT:

1)    Use profanity or objectionable language

2)    Engage in or permit verbal or non-verbal put-downs or abuse of others

3)    Permit vandalism of property in any form

4)    Engage in or permit excessive “horseplay” or physical “rough-housing” with campers.

5)    Make threats that are unwise to carry out or administer physical punishments

6)    Be under the influence of or in possession of any drugs, alcohol or tobacco products

7)    Wear T-shirts, caps or clothing that advertise alcohol, tobacco or anything offensive.  Wear bandanas, hats or clothing that would suggest gang symbols or membership.

8)    Use cell phones during work hours except for extreme emergencies and break time.  Under no conditions should a counselor be on their cell phone (calling, texting, surfing, etc.) while watching children.  

9)    Violate the RBC dress code.

You will be responsible for calling on behalf of YMCAs and talking with their members to encourage involvement, enroll them in programs, and gauge their satisfaction.  We are looking for personable and professional personalities to effectively communicate the “Exceptional Customer Service” mentality.

 

What you’ll be doing:

•   Conduct calling campaigns for various YMCA associations and programs. 
•   On the phone 100% of the time making friendly calls.
•   Attain established goals for call volume and participant enrollment.
•   Effectively communicate with members while relaying a “Customer Service First” attitude.
•   Utilize software to track, schedule, and enroll membership participation. 

What you’ve got to have:

•   Available to work various shifts between the hours of 1:00 and 7:00 pm Monday through Friday 
•   Ability to work 18 to 25 hours per week
•   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•   Computer skills — must be able to type and talk at the same time.
